Howell Living History Farm Interpretive Plan
Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey
Since 2000 Hunter Research has had an extended professional involvement with the Howell Living History Farm, a Mercer County-owned and managed facility in Pleasant Valley, Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey. This involvement has included two major episodes of historic preservation planning. In 2002 the company prepared a 10-year master plan for the Farm that addressed interpretive approaches and public programming development as well as the more traditional challenges presented by a range of historic residences and farm buildings in a rural landscape. This plan was subsequently updated and re-cast in 2016-17 as a new strategic plan, funded by the New Jersey Cultural Trust, which advises the County and Friends of Howell Farm on how best to interpret and develop public programming for an expansion of the farm’s area of operation within Pleasant Valley and on Baldpate Mountain.
